What Modalities Are Available in California?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-supported therapy for traumatic or distressing experiences, anxiety, phobias, grief, medical trauma, and more. Instead of retelling every detail, EMDR helps your brain reprocess stuck memories so their emotional intensity softens and you can respond from the present, not the past.
How EMDR works here:
Stabilize & prepare – We build safety tools (grounding, breath, body awareness) so you feel steady.
Target selection – Together we identify memories, images, or beliefs that still carry a charge.
Bilateral stimulation – Using therapist-guided eye movements, gentle taps, or tones, your brain processes the material while you stay anchored in the room.
Installation & closure – We reinforce more helpful beliefs (“I am safe,” “I can handle this”) and close each session with calming strategies.
What you might notice: fewer triggers, better sleep, less reactivity, and more room for joy.
ERP Therapy in Lake Balboa (Anxiety & OCD)
ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) is the gold-standard behavioral therapy for OCD and many anxiety presentations (social anxiety, health anxiety, panic, phobias). The approach is simple and compassionate: face what’s scary in small, supported steps while practicing not doing the safety behavior (compulsion, reassurance seeking, avoidance). Over time, your brain learns “I can feel this and I’m okay,” and the cycle loosens.
Our ERP process:
Mapping your cycle – We chart obsessions, triggers, compulsions, and values.
A fear ladder you approve – Tiny exposures first, designed collaboratively.
Skills coaching – Mindful noticing, acceptance of uncertainty, values-based actions.
Homework that’s humane – Brief, doable practices between sessions.
ERP is active and often surprisingly empowering. You set the pace; we bring structure, cheerleading, and clinical precision.
Eating Disorder Counseling in Lake Balboa
Food struggles are never “just about food.” Whether you’re navigating binge/restrict cycles, compulsive exercise, body image pain, ARFID patterns, or recovery after treatment, our therapists offer attuned, weight-inclusive care. We work from a non-diet, shame-free lens, integrating DBT, ERP, body image work, and—when helpful—EMDR to address trauma roots.
What support can look like:
Stabilizing routines around meals and self-care
Reducing rules and rituals that keep life small
Body image healing with compassion and practical tools
Team care with your physician or dietitian (with your consent)
Relapse prevention planning that’s realistic and kind
Your worth isn’t defined by appearance or intake. Here, we focus on flexibility, nourishment, and freedom—not perfection.
Telehealth EMDR Therapy in Lake Balboa (and Across CA)
Prefer counseling from home or need schedule flexibility? Our telehealth EMDR sessions use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform with on-screen bilateral stimulation tools (or therapist-guided tapping). You’ll receive a clear tech checklist, privacy tips, and a pre-session grounding routine so online EMDR feels safe and seamless.
Telehealth EMDR is ideal if you:
Have childcare, mobility, or commute constraints
Live outside immediate driving distance but want our approach
Feel most secure processing from a familiar space
Clients often say telehealth helps them integrate skills in real-life environments—the very places triggers used to show up.
What to Expect at Your First Session?
Gentle intake – We’ll explore what’s hard, what’s helped, and what you want to be different.
A plan you can trust – We’ll recommend EMDR, ERP, eating-disorder-informed therapy, or a blend—always collaborative.
Immediate tools – You’ll leave with grounding exercises and one next step that feels doable.
Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about partnering with you so your nervous system, mind, and values can move in the same direction.
How Do I Pay For Services?
We are an in network company for Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Carelon, and can offer superbills for potential reimbursement if you are with another company. HSA/FSA cards are welcome. A limited number of sliding-scale slots may be available—please ask. Our office is accessibility-conscious; telehealth is offered to reduce barriers to care.
Other FAQS:
Is EMDR safe if my trauma feels intense?
Yes—when properly paced. We spend time building stabilization first, and you control the speed at every step.
Will ERP make me do exposures I’m not ready for?
No. ERP is collaborative. We co-create a ladder and start with the smallest manageable step, with consent and support.
Can therapy help if I’m “not sick enough”?
If food, anxiety, or past experiences are shrinking your life, you’re “enough” to get help. Early support prevents deeper suffering.
Do you work with teens?
Select clinicians do. We include caregivers in age-appropriate ways and offer telehealth when helpful.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies. Some people feel relief in weeks; others prefer longer-term support. We’ll review progress regularly and decide together.
