Can ADHD Therapy Happen Online?
Maybe you've always been the one who gets it done at the last minute. You're capable, creative and smart, yet simple tasks feel strangely hard. Emails pile up, plans slip, and you end most days feeling like you were busy without getting anywhere. For many high-functioning adults, these are signs of ADHD that were never recognized, or were recognized but never truly addressed.
ADHD isn't a character flaw or a lack of effort. It's a difference in how the brain manages attention, motivation, time and emotion. With the right support, you can stop fighting your brain and start working with it.
What Does ADHD Look Like in Adults?
Adult ADHD often looks different than the hyperactive child stereotype. It can show up as:
Procrastination, followed by intense last-minute pressure
Losing track of time, or chronic lateness
Starting many projects and finishing few
Mental restlessness, racing thoughts or trouble winding down
Forgetting appointments, bills or messages
Big emotional reactions, or strong sensitivity to criticism and rejection
Feeling overwhelmed by tasks other people seem to handle easily
Hyperfocus on interesting things while important things wait
ADHD in women is especially likely to be missed. Many adults, particularly women, are diagnosed later in life after years of being called "lazy," "scattered" or "too much." That history often leaves a layer of shame and self-criticism that deserves attention too.
How ADHD Therapy Helps
ADHD counseling for adults is practical and collaborative. Rather than only talking about what's hard, we build systems and skills that fit the way your brain actually works. Depending on your goals, our work may include:
Time and task management: breaking projects into steps, planning tools, and routines that stick
Overcoming procrastination: understanding what blocks you from starting and how to get unstuck
Emotional regulation: DBT-informed skills for frustration, overwhelm and rejection sensitivity
Reducing shame: challenging the old story that you're not trying hard enough
Relationships and work: communicating your needs, and building structure with partners or coworkers
Self-care foundations: sleep, movement and routines that support focus
ADHD and Co-Occurring Concerns
ADHD rarely travels alone. It frequently overlaps with anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma and disordered eating. Because our team also specializes in EMDR, ERP, DBT and eating disorder treatment, we can address the whole picture rather than treating ADHD in isolation.
ADHD Evaluations
Wondering whether you have ADHD? We offer ADHD evaluations for adults living in Oregon and Washington. An evaluation can bring clarity, help explain lifelong patterns, and guide decisions about treatment. California residents able to get an evaluation done, but it may not be accepted by a medication provider.
We do not prescribe medication. If you're considering medication, we're happy to coordinate with your doctor or psychiatrist.
